Nur Phong Si Lueng, BE2506, Wat Prasat (Bangkok)

Consecrated in a Grand Ceremony

Historical Background

In the Buddhist Era 2506 (1963 CE), Wat Prasat, located in Bangkok, undertook a major temple renovation project. To fund the restoration and promote spiritual merit, the temple commissioned the creation of sacred amulets, including the Phra Somdej Pim Phraprathan Pim Yai. The amulets were produced with the intention of providing protection, good fortune, and blessings to devotees and supporters of the temple.

This batch became especially well known due to the sacred composition of the amulets and the unprecedented scale of the consecration ceremonies, which drew participation from over 200 respected monks across Thailand.

Major Consecration Ceremonies

Two separate mass-blessing ceremonies were conducted for this amulet series:

  1. First ceremony: March 6–9, 1963 (3 days and 3 nights)

  2. Second ceremony: November 13–16, 1963 (4 days and 4 nights)

These events are recognized as among the most significant and powerful consecration rites since the 25th Buddhist Century celebrations.

Participating monks included:

  • Luang Pu Tim (Wat Lahanrai)

  • Luang Phor Toh (Wat Pradoochimplee)

  • Luang Phor Pae (Wat Pikunthong)

  • Luang Phor Guay (Wat Kositaram)

  • Luang Phor Doo (Wat Sakae)

  • Luang Phor Mui (Wat Don Rai)

  • Luang Phor Nak (Wat Rakhang)

  • Luang Phor Ngern (Wat Don Yai Hom)

  • Luang Phor Klai (Wat Suankhan)

The combined spiritual power and sanctity of the event contributed significantly to the amulet’s revered status.

Composition and Sacred Materials

The amulets were crafted using a blend of sacred ingredients, such as:

  • Crushed fragments of old Phra Somdej amulets from Wat Bang Khun Prom and Wat Rakang (originally created by Somdej Phra Buddhachan Toh)

  • Holy powders from multiple sources, including materials used in Wat Paknam’s famous “Phra Phong” powder

  • Sacred soil from important Buddhist sites

  • Herbal elements, waxes, and spiritual substances used in traditional Thai consecration rituals

The resulting mixture was pressed into molds with traditional Buddhist iconography and baked or dried to preserve durability and spiritual potency.

Design and Physical Characteristics

  • Pim Yai (Large Mold): Features the Buddha image seated on a three-tiered base enclosed within an arched frame.

  • Reverse Side: May vary between plain or faint temple mark.

  • Dimensions: Approximately 4.0 cm high x 2.5 cm wide x 0.5 cm thick

  • Material: Nur Phong Si Lueng (light yellow sacred powder), resulting in a distinct pale yellow tone

This amulet reflects the classical beauty of Phra Somdej craftsmanship and adheres to the spiritual aesthetics passed down since the Rattanakosin era.

Spiritual Significance

The Phra Somdej Pim Phraprathan Pim Yai BE2506 is believed to bestow:

  • Protection from danger and spiritual harm (Klaew Klaad)

  • Enhancement of personal charm and social likability (Metta Maha Niyom)

  • Financial success and wealth attraction (Maha Larp)

  • Strong moral authority and resilience (Kongkraphan Chatri)

  • Business prosperity and customer favor (Kaa Kaai Dee)

The amulet is thus highly regarded not only for its history and craftsmanship but also for its reputed spiritual effectiveness.
