History of the Making:

Phra Phong Kong Kwan Roon 1 (First Batch)

Wat Ko Chan, B.E. 2497 (1954–1957)

Created by Luang Pu Inn | Consecrated by Luang Pu Sodh Wat Paknam

1. Background of Wat Ko Chan

Wat Ko Chan, located in Bang Kaeo Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chachoengsao Province, was established around 1872 as a royal monastery with strong support from the local community. By the mid-20th century, it became a center for meditation and spiritual cultivation under the guidance of respected masters affiliated with Wat Paknam.

2. Introduction of Dhammakaya Practice

In 1952, Luang Pu Sodh (Phra Mongkol Thepmuni) of Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen sent two of his trusted disciples, Luang Pu Inn and Mae Nun Pian, to Wat Ko Chan. Their mission was to introduce and teach the Dhammakaya meditation method to both monks and laypeople. The practice quickly gained popularity, drawing a large number of students and devotees.

3. The Origin of Phra Phong Kong Kwan

In 1954, the then-abbot of Wat Ko Chan (Phra Khru Muang) requested Luang Pu Inn to create sacred powder amulets—Phra Phong Kong Kwan—for distribution to devotees who came to make merit at the temple. Luang Pu Inn sought approval from his teacher, Luang Pu Sodh, who gladly agreed and contributed sacred powders used in the first to third generations of Phra Kong Kwan at Wat Paknam.

4. Blessing Ceremony and Consecration

After receiving the sacred ingredients from Luang Pu Sodh, the amulets were formed and brought back to Wat Paknam, where a formal consecration ritual was conducted under Luang Pu Sodh’s supervision using the Dhammakaya meditative empowerment method. The batch was then returned to Wat Ko Chan, where a second round of prayers and blessings was held by Luang Pu Inn and his monastic community before the amulets were officially released in B.E. 2497.

5. Physical Description and Features

The amulets are made from soft, white sacred powder, featuring a porous texture. Under magnification, one can observe:

  • White flakes resembling mineral deposits

  • Brown specks from sacred herbal pollen and remnants of earlier batches

These characteristics closely resemble the Wat Paknam amulets of the same era.

6. Purpose and Spiritual Significance

The primary intention behind the creation of these amulets was to:

  • Spread the teachings and merit of Dhammakaya meditation

  • Provide devotees with protection from danger

  • Bless them with abundance, loving-kindness, and spiritual clarity

The involvement of Luang Pu Sodh in both material and spiritual aspects of the creation further elevated its sanctity and connection to the renowned Wat Paknam lineage.

7. Recognition and Legacy

Initially, the amulets were not widely known beyond the local region. However, as awareness of their connection to Wat Paknam grew, interest increased—especially after it was revealed that Luang Pu Sodh had personally empowered the batch.

About 25 years ago, well-known amulet expert Pramcham Kanchanawat featured these amulets in a respected reference book, identifying them as a significant part of Thai sacred amulet history. Since then, Phra Phong Kong Kwan Wat Ko Chan has become highly sought-after among seasoned collectors and new enthusiasts alike.

8. Summary

Phra Phong Kong Kwan Roon 1 from Wat Ko Chan is not only a powerful amulet in its own right but also a direct continuation of the Phra Kong Kwan lineage of Wat Paknam. Authenticated by sacred ingredients, Dhammakaya meditation blessings, and endorsement by one of the greatest Thai monks of the 20th century—Luang Pu Sodh—it stands today as a revered and collectible sacred object among Thai amulet devotees.
