Background on Luang Phor Kuay
Luang Phor Kuay was one of the most respected monks in central Thailand during the mid-20th century. He was known for his mastery of both theoretical Dhamma and meditative practice. He was also deeply versed in sacred Khmer scripts, yantra inscriptions, and ancient magical sciences. His amulets are prized for their effectiveness in personal protection, charm, and spiritual empowerment.
Creation and Symbolism
The Phra Khun Paen Khi Phi Phray was created during a spiritually potent period in Luang Phor Kuay’s life. The amulet portrays Khun Paen commanding and riding on a ghostly spirit—known in Thai as “phi phray.” This supernatural depiction symbolizes Khun Paen’s dominion over the spiritual realm, charisma, and unmatched metaphysical prowess. The imagery is rare, reflecting a deep mystical tradition and is associated with spiritual authority, occult protection, and magnetic influence.
Material Composition – Nur Din
The amulet was crafted using sacred clay (nur din) sourced from Wat Kositaram’s holy grounds. This clay was blended with traditional powders such as Phong Ittijay, Phong Patamang, and Phong Maharaj, along with fragments of earlier consecrated amulets, incense ash, candle wax from prior rituals, and sacred herbal substances. The mixture was hand-pressed into individual molds, resulting in a soft, porous surface. Over time, natural blooming and surface patina appear as signs of age and authenticity.
Consecration and Blessing
Luang Phor Kuay personally conducted the consecration through a disciplined ritual spanning multiple sessions. The amulets were repeatedly blessed using ancient Buddhist mantras and magical invocations, intended to empower them with protective strength, charm, and auspicious energy. The spiritual force of this batch is considered exceptionally strong due to the unusual depiction and focused blessing process.
Recognition and Rarity
The Phra Khun Paen Khi Phi Phray, Nur Din, B.E. 2500 amulet received 2nd place in a Samakom Phra Krueng competition, affirming its authenticity, historical importance, and high-quality craftsmanship. Only a limited number were produced, all hand-molded.
