History of Phra Nang Kamphaeng Med Malin Nur Phong Din

BE 2508 – Wat Nong Rong

Consecrated by Luang Phor Mui, Wat Don Rai

Phra Nang Kamphaeng Med Malin Nur Phong Din is a sacred amulet created and consecrated during Buddhist Era 2508 (1965). It was issued by Wat Nong Rong, a temple located in Chaiya District, Surat Thani Province, and was blessed by the revered southern guru monk, Luang Phor Mui of Wat Don Rai, who was renowned for his deep meditative practice and powerful incantations.

Origin and Purpose

The name “Phra Nang Kamphaeng” refers to a legendary female guardian deity associated with strong protection and invulnerability. The phrase “Med Malin” describes its characteristic oval or bean-like shape. These amulets were primarily created to serve as sacred objects of protection, metta mahaniyom (loving-kindness and charm), and evasion from danger, particularly for people living in forested or conflict-prone regions.

The purpose of this batch was to raise funds to support the temple’s restoration and also to bless devotees with divine guardianship and fortune.

Material Composition

This version of Phra Nang Kamphaeng was cast in “Phong Din”, a sacred powder blended with earth soil collected from auspicious locations. The composition typically included:

  • Pulverized holy powders from previous sacred ceremonies

  • Fragments of sacred scripture (Phong Phra That)

  • Soil from important spiritual sites and cemeteries

  • Herbal and botanical matter, believed to enhance metta and protection

  • Other sacred components personally prepared by Luang Phor Mui

This sacred powder blend was compressed into the traditional oval-shaped mold known as “Med Malin”, a form often believed to radiate soft protective energies and feminine charm.

Consecration Ceremony

The consecration was led by Luang Phor Mui of Wat Don Rai, a highly respected Southern monk noted for his strict practice of Vipassana and profound meditative states. He was known to have attained deep supernatural insight and was frequently invited to bless amulets across southern Thailand.

Luang Phor Mui conducted intensive blessing rituals, including incantations, meditation, and empowerment through sacred mantras passed down from his own teachers. His spiritual force was believed to instill each amulet with protective powers and blessings for safety, prosperity, and charm.

Features and Characteristics

  • Front Image: Typically features the figure of a sacred female deity in a seated meditative posture, symbolizing invulnerability and spiritual calm.

  • Back Design: Often engraved with sacred yantras or incantation scripts.

  • Texture: Soft to semi-firm due to the herbal and powder composition, with natural oil seepage over time.

  • Color: Earthy brown, beige, or dark clay tones, depending on the powder blend used.

Each amulet is handcrafted and may contain subtle variations, adding to its unique charm and authenticity.

Sacred Powers and Beliefs

Phra Nang Kamphaeng Med Malin is believed to offer the following blessings:

  • Protective shield against physical harm, black magic, and ill intent

  • Metta Mahaniyom to attract goodwill, popularity, and affection

  • Maha Amnaj (authority and influence), particularly for women or individuals in leadership

  • Klaew Klaad (evasion of danger), especially during travel or uncertain situations

It became especially popular among those in the military, police, merchants, and working women due to its versatile blessings.

Recognition and Value

Though initially lesser known outside Surat Thani and nearby provinces, the Phra Nang Kamphaeng Med Malin series has gained recognition among collectors and amulet scholars for its connection to Luang Phor Mui, its sacred ingredients, and its effective spiritual properties.

Authentic pieces from this batch are increasingly rare, especially those in original condition. Many of these were issued with certification cards from trusted institutions such as Thaprachan, affirming their authenticity and sacred lineage.
