Luang Pu Chan lost his father at the age of 8. At the age of 10, his mother entrusted him to Abbot Phet Thammatiko of Wat Pho Si, who also served as the head monk of Non Than Subdistrict and a local school teacher. This marked the beginning of his spiritual journey.
He was ordained as a novice monk at Wat Pho Si, Khon Kaen Province, on May 6, 1925.
At the age of 20, he was fully ordained as a monk on January 13, 1931, at Wat Si Chan (Wat Si Chanthrawas), Khon Kaen. His ordination preceptor was Phra Khru Phisan Aranyakhet (Chan Khemiyo), with Phra Ajahn Singh Khantayakomo and Phra Ajahn Maha Pin Panyapalo serving as karmavācācariya and anusāvanācariya respectively.
2. Training in the Forest Tradition
Just 7 days after his ordination, he began following Phra Ajahn Thet Thetsarangsri of Wat Hin Mak Peng and Phra Ajahn On Yanasiri of Wat Pa Nikrodharam, practicing ascetic wandering (tudong) under the lineage of Phra Ajahn Man Phurithatto.
From January to March 1932, he engaged in intensive forest practice before departing to pursue formal Dhamma studies in Bangkok.

5. Contributions and Legacy
Luang Pu Chan Sri was widely respected as a senior monk of the Vipassana Dhura (insight meditation) forest tradition, and a direct disciple of Phra Ajahn Man, one of Thailand’s most revered meditation masters. He remained committed to Dhamma practice throughout his life, even in old age.
He served the community not only through Dhamma propagation but also through monastic education, Sangha administration, and moral leadership.
