Background and Intent

The creation of Phra Phutta Archan Toh BE 2495 was initiated by Luang Pu Nak, one of the most respected spiritual figures and lineage holders at Wat Rakang during the mid-20th century. This amulet was made to commemorate the virtues of Somdej Phra Buddhacharn Toh Prommarangsi, the original creator of Phra Somdej amulets and a legendary monk in Thai Buddhism.

Luang Pu Nak, who was deeply devoted to preserving the spiritual heritage of Wat Rakang, undertook this project to:

  • Honor the legacy of Somdej Toh

  • Revive the ancient powder-based amulet tradition

  • Raise funds for temple restoration and religious education

Material Composition (Nur Phong)

The amulet is composed of a rare and potent Nur Phong, which included:

  • Sacred powder remnants from original Somdej Wat Rakang batches

  • Ground powder from old Phra Somdej and Phra Rod amulets

  • Pollens from consecrated flowers used in major chanting ceremonies

  • Crushed yantra paper and takruts from past rituals

  • Holy ashes from candle wax used during the chanting of Tipitaka scriptures

The mixture was kneaded with holy water and molded into rectangular tablets bearing a likeness of Somdej Toh in a meditative seated position, in the Pim Yai (large mold) and Pim Lek (small mold) forms.

Consecration Ceremony (Puttapisek)

The consecration ceremony was conducted at Wat Rakang Kositaram and was personally presided over by Luang Pu Nak. The Puttapisek ritual involved:

  • Continuous chanting of sacred Pali mantras and parittas

  • Meditation and invocation of Somdej Toh’s spiritual essence

  • Participation of senior monks from Bangkok and surrounding provinces

Many accounts recall a strong spiritual presence during the ceremony, with incense and candle flames flickering mysteriously, believed to signify divine approval.

Spiritual Properties

The amulet is revered for its strong protective and blessing properties, especially:

  • Metta Maha Niyom: Increases loving-kindness and compassion from others

  • Klaew Klaad: Avoidance of danger and misfortune

  • Barami Extension: Strengthens moral authority and spiritual energy

  • Kongkrapan Chatree: Protection against physical harm and negative influences

Due to its link to Somdej Toh’s spiritual power, it is also believed to promote mindfulness and inner peace, especially during meditation and chanting.

Legacy and Recognition

The BE 2495 batch is considered a first-generation revival piece under Luang Pu Nak’s leadership and is highly respected among collectors and spiritual practitioners. Notably:

  • It maintains continuity with the original Somdej Wat Rakang tradition

  • It was created during the peak spiritual strength of Luang Pu Nak

  • It is a rare, well-documented amulet with high spiritual integrity

This amulet remains one of the most treasured items among those following the Archan Toh–Wat Rakang lineage and is frequently referenced in amulet catalogs and collector communities for its authenticity and power.
