Purpose of Creation

The Phra Pidta BE 2497 batch was created with the intention to:

  • Fund temple renovations and community construction works

  • Create a protective amulet for laypeople against danger, black magic, and harmful spirits

  • Encourage the practice of mindfulness and inner stillness, as symbolized by the closed-eye Buddha posture

Luang Pu Liam, known for his deep meditative discipline and strict Vinaya practice, personally supervised the creation and empowerment of this batch.

Material Composition (Nur Phong)

The amulets were created from a sacred blend of powders that included:

  • Phong Ittijay (powder inscribed with the Ittijay katha)

  • Phong Patamang and Phong Maharaj – key powders used in high-level Thai wicha

  • Powdered remains of old amulets from revered monks such as Luang Pu Toh (Wat Pradoochimplee) and Luang Pu Suk (Wat Pak Khlong Makham Thao)

  • Pollens, flower petals from consecration ceremonies, and incense ash from chanting rituals

  • Crushed dried herbs and tree resins used in protective talismans

  • Holy soils and powders from sacred grounds and ubosots across central Thailand

Each amulet was hand-pressed into a mold and carefully dried before final consecration.

Consecration Ceremony (Puttapisek)

The Puttapisek ceremony of BE 2497 was solemn and spiritually powerful:

  • Held at Wat Sri Rueng Boon, with Luang Pu Liam as the presiding monk

  • Reinforced by a circle of meditating monks and senior ajarns from nearby provinces

  • The empowerment process included chanting of protective suttas, invocations of the Triple Gem, and silent kasina meditation

  • The ritual extended over multiple nights to ensure full energetic charge into each amulet

Luang Pu Liam was known to emphasize silence and meditative states throughout the consecration process, imbuing each amulet with calm, focused spiritual energy.

Spiritual Beliefs and Benefits

The Phra Pidta BE 2497 is believed to offer:

  • Protection from danger, especially unseen forces, curses, and ill-intent

  • Enhancement of wealth and prosperity through removing spiritual obstacles

  • Mental clarity and mindfulness for those who meditate or perform merit-making

  • Baramee (spiritual charisma) that inspires respect and compassion from others

  • Support in trading and negotiations, especially for merchants and business owners

The closed-eye form of Phra Pidta represents shutting out worldly distractions and focusing inwardly on truth, which aligns with Luang Pu Liam’s meditative lineage.

Rarity and Legacy

  • The BE 2497 batch is considered one of the earliest and most sacred creations by Luang Pu Liam

  • Highly sought after by both collectors and practitioners due to its potency, early year, and association with a well-respected meditative monk

  • Known to fetch premium prices in amulet circles due to limited quantity and condition rarity

Later generations of Phra Pidta from Wat Sri Rueng Boon continued to follow the format and spiritual standards set by this original batch.
