Phra Pidta Sankajai Nur Phong

Maker: Luang Phor Yim Chantachoti

Temple: Wat Nong Bua (Wat Upalaram), Kanchanaburi Province

Material: Nur Phong (sacred herbal powder)

Period: Late 19th century to early 20th century (BE 2400s–2453)

Spiritual Significance

The Phra Pidta (closed eyes) represents protection from evil, concealment from harm, and deep meditation. The Sankajai (Phra Sangkachai) figure symbolizes abundance, fortune, and loving-kindness. Combining both into a single amulet creates a powerful dual-force talisman of protection and prosperity.

Purpose of Creation

This amulet was crafted to offer spiritual protection and attract wealth and blessings. It was mainly distributed among close disciples and temple supporters. The intention was to help devotees succeed in both worldly and spiritual matters.

Material (Nur Phong)

The amulet is made from sacred herbal powder, commonly known as Phong Bailan. This mixture includes burnt palm-leaf scriptures, incense ash from important rituals, sacred powder from broken amulets, temple flowers, and blessed earth from holy sites. The result is a naturally dark-colored amulet with a subtle sacred fragrance.

Consecration Process

Each amulet was personally blessed by Luang Phor Yim during extended periods of meditation and ritual. He recited protective chants, metta suttas, and invulnerability mantras. In some cases, group consecrations with other monks took place, enhancing the amulet’s spiritual power.

About Luang Phor Yim

Luang Phor Yim was a revered ascetic monk known for his deep knowledge of protective magic, spiritual disciplines, and communication with animals. He was respected by royalty and high officials, including His Royal Highness Prince of Chumphon Khet Udomsak. He often practiced in remote forests and maintained a humble lifestyle. He passed away in BE 2453, leaving behind a lasting spiritual legacy.

Known Features

The amulet is small and lightweight, ideal for wearing. It features a unique design that merges the image of Phra Pidta with the form of Phra Sangkachai—usually in a seated posture with hands covering the face or chest. Due to its organic materials, older pieces often show signs of age such as surface cracks or pitting.

Believed Powers

Phra Pidta Sankajai amulets are believed to provide protection against danger and black magic, attract prosperity and business success, promote kindness and popularity, and support meditation and inner peace.

Rarity and Collectibility

Authentic pieces are considered very rare, especially in well-preserved condition. They are highly valued by serious collectors of early-era amulets from Kanchanaburi and followers of the Luang Pu Suk and Luang Phor Ngern lineages.
