History of Phra Somdej Pim Thansen Lang (Jackie Chan Model)

Name: Phra Somdej Pim Thansen Lang

Popular Name: “Jackie Chan Model”

Material: Nur Phong Kesorn (pollen-based sacred powder)

Year: B.E. 2517 (1974 CE)

Created by: Luang Phor Pae, Wat Pikulthong, Sing Buri

Background and Purpose

In B.E. 2517, Luang Phor Pae, one of the most revered monks in central Thailand, initiated the creation of this special batch of Phra Somdej amulets to raise funds for the expansion and development of Wat Pikulthong, including its Uposatha hall and education buildings.

This batch came to be famously referred to as the “Jackie Chan Model”, due to the well-known Hong Kong actor Jackie Chan being seen wearing this particular model, which gained it great popularity both locally and among overseas Chinese communities.

Design and Features

  • The front features a classic Phra Somdej Pim Thansen (straight-line base) design with the Buddha seated in meditation posture on a three-tiered base.

  • The back bears the impression of Luang Phor Pae seated in meditation, a unique feature distinguishing this batch from earlier models.

  • The size and mold are compact and elegant, suitable for both men and women.

  • Known for its clear mold details, good proportion, and distinctive spiritual aura.

Material (Nur Phong Kesorn)

The amulets were made from Phong Kesorn, a sacred pollen-based powder mixed with:

  • Crushed fragments of old amulets blessed by LP Pae

  • Pollen and flower dust from temple offerings

  • Incense ash, candle wax from chanting ceremonies

  • Herbal powder and auspicious substances gathered during holy days

  • Occasionally mixed with a small quantity of Phong Bailan (burnt scripture powder) and powdered shells

This mix results in a light beige to cream-colored surface with natural texturing, and some pieces show visible pollen specks or floral residue.

Blessing and Consecration

The amulets were fully consecrated in a major blessing ceremony at Wat Pikulthong in B.E. 2517, personally overseen by Luang Phor Pae, with participation from several senior monks in the region.

The consecration included:

  • Prolonged chanting of katha, including Itipiso and protective verses

  • Meditation-based empowerment (Buddho kammathana) by LP Pae, renowned for his deep samadhi

  • Multi-day chanting and candle-lit ritual sessions in the main viharn

Spiritual Benefits

Phra Somdej Pim Thansen Lang by Luang Phor Pae is believed to bring:

  • Metta Mahaniyom (loving-kindness and charm)

  • Klaew Klaad (protection from danger and accidents)

  • Chok Larp (prosperity and good fortune)

  • Maha Utt (invulnerability and escape from misfortune)

  • Support in work, career, and public appeal
