B.E. 2530 (1987) – Wat Bang Phra, Nakhon Pathom

Background & Purpose

In B.E. 2530, Luang Phor Pern of Wat Bang Phra initiated the creation of a special batch of Phra Pikanet (Ganesha) amulets to bless his devotees with the Hindu deity’s qualities of wisdom, obstacle removal, and success. In Thai spiritual tradition, Phra Pikanet is widely revered as the remover of obstacles and the patron of arts, learning, and auspicious undertakings.

The main objectives of this batch were:

  1. To raise funds for Wat Bang Phra’s restoration projects, including the renovation of the main ubosot and the construction of monk dwellings.

  2. To offer devotees a sacred protective charm believed to enhance success in education, business, and creative endeavors.

Material & Craftsmanship

  • Na Gae (ancient lead alloy) was selected for its mystical properties. This sacred metal was sourced from old temple relics, antique Buddha images, and remnants of earlier holy objects.

  • The alloy was melted, purified through chanting, and poured into specially crafted Pikanet molds.

  • Each piece was meticulously finished by hand, ensuring the intricate features of Phra Pikanet were clear and lifelike.

Consecration Ceremony

The blessing ceremony took place at Wat Bang Phra under the direct supervision of Luang Phor Pern, assisted by several senior monks.

Key elements of the consecration included:

  1. Invocation of Phra Pikanet: Sacred Brahman and Buddhist chants to invite the deity’s protective presence into the amulet.

  2. 108 Candles & Yantra Empowerment: The amulets were placed in a sacred circle of yantras while 108 candles burned continuously, symbolizing light and wisdom overcoming darkness.

  3. Bucha Phra Pikanet Ritual: Offerings of sugarcane, bananas, rice, and flowers were made, following the traditional Hindu-Thai ceremonial format.

  4. Final Blessing by Luang Phor Pern: Using his well-known Kata Yant and incantations, LP Pern infused each amulet with the powers of protection, obstacle-clearing, and fortune enhancement.

Believed Powers

Owners of this amulet believe it offers:

  • Wisdom & Intelligence – Enhancing learning and decision-making.

  • Obstacle Removal – Clearing unseen hindrances in business, travel, or life plans.

  • Wealth & Success – Attracting opportunities and prosperity.

  • Protection – Shielding the wearer from harm and misfortune.

Many devotees have shared personal experiences of smooth business ventures, exam success, and unexpected opportunities after wearing it.

Certification & Collectibility

The Thaprachan Certificate authenticates this amulet’s origin, material, and creation year, ensuring its legitimacy in the collector’s market. Due to its Na Gae material, its connection to LP Pern, and its association with Phra Pikanet, this piece is considered highly desirable among serious collectors and devotees of both Buddhist and Hindu traditions.
