Background and Purpose

This amulet was created to commemorate and honor the spiritual legacy of Somdej Phra Phutthachan (Toh Promrangsi), a revered monk of the Rattanakosin period and the original creator of the legendary Phra Somdej Wat Rakang.

In BE2511, under the leadership of Luang Pu Nak, then abbot of Wat Rakang, this special amulet was issued featuring a unique design of Somdej Toh seated under the Bodhi Tree, symbolizing supreme wisdom, protection, and enlightenment.

Symbolic Design

The front image depicts Somdej Toh in the posture of meditation beneath the Bodhi Tree (Pho Prok), representing enlightenment and spiritual protection.

The reverse side features a powerful depiction of the Buddha, enhancing the amulet’s spiritual resonance and making it a dual homage to both Somdej Toh and the Enlightened One.

Materials Used

The amulet was created using sacred powder blends including:

  • Phong Itijay and Phong Trinisinghe (ancient sacred powders)

  • Fragments of old Phra Somdej amulets

  • Temple wall powder from sacred structures

  • Ashes from scripture (bailan) and incense

  • Powder from candle drippings during major Buddhist ceremonies

This carefully curated mixture resulted in a durable and spiritually potent amulet that aged gracefully.

Blessing and Consecration

The consecration took place at Wat Rakang’s Uposatha Hall, under the guidance of Luang Pu Nak. Although official records do not name all participants, it is believed that several senior Bangkok-based monks joined the blessing ceremonies across multiple sessions.

The ceremony adhered to ancient traditions, involving chanting of protective mantras, deep meditation, and a sacred invocation of Somdej Toh’s spiritual barami.
