History of Phra Khun Paen Ceramic Glazed Amulet

8th Cycle Commemorative Edition (96th Birthday)

BE 2552 (2009 CE)

Luang Pu Tim Atthasanto – Wat Phra Khao, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province

1. Background and Purpose of Creation

This special edition of the Phra Khun Paen glazed ceramic amulet was created in BE 2552 (2009) to commemorate the 96th birthday (8th cycle in the Thai lunar calendar) of Luang Pu Tim Atthasanto, one of Thailand’s most respected monks from Wat Phra Khao in Ayutthaya.

The primary purposes of this batch were:

  • To honor Luang Pu Tim’s long-standing contribution to Thai Buddhism.

  • To offer a memento for devotees and disciples across the country.

  • To raise funds for temple renovations and construction of religious structures.

  • To distribute sacred protection items imbued with Luang Pu Tim’s spiritual blessings.

2. Design and Material Composition

Name: Phra Khun Paen Ceramic Glazed Amulet (8th Cycle Edition)

Material: Traditional Ayutthaya-style ceramic with high-gloss glaze

Front Design:

  • Depicts the Buddha image in meditative posture (samadhi) within a detailed arch or throne (weon khao).

  • Crafted with intricate relief lines to preserve classical Ayutthaya artistry.

  • Finished with a high-temperature glaze coating, resulting in a glossy surface with vivid colors such as white, blue, green, yellow, and pink—depending on the kiln batch.

Back Design:

  • Some versions feature sacred yantras (magical diagrams) or embossed temple symbols.

  • Higher-tier pieces may include embedded takruts, sacred powders, or serial number markings.

Pim (Mold):

  • The “8th Cycle” mold is a commemorative design exclusive to this birthday celebration.

  • Produced in limited quantity and divided into standard and premium (committee) versions.

3. Consecration Ceremony

The amulets underwent a major consecration ceremony held at Wat Phra Khao, under the spiritual guidance of Luang Pu Tim himself, who personally conducted the chanting and blessing rites.

The ceremony included:

  • Prolonged chanting of Buddhist protective sutras (Ittipiso, Jinnapanjara, Maha Jakkapat).

  • Sacred rituals invoking metta (loving-kindness), protection, and blessings for wearers.

  • Presence of additional invited monks from the region to reinforce the sanctity of the occasion.

Many devotees regard this consecration as one of the most powerful in Luang Pu Tim’s final active years, giving the amulets a high spiritual value.

4. Beliefs and Sacred Properties

The Phra Khun Paen 8th Cycle amulet is highly regarded for the following spiritual attributes:

  • Metta Maha Niyom (Loving-kindness and popularity)

  • Business and relationship success

  • Protection from harm and spiritual disturbances

  • Enhanced personal charm and charisma

  • Support in career growth, negotiations, and leadership

Many devotees have reported positive experiences, such as unexpected fortune, safe travels, and success in social or business matters after wearing this amulet.
